Over Policing of Black residents in Carmel via traffic violations
Data in 2019 came out to the Carmel, IN area about black men and women being pulled over at a disproportionately higher rate compared to white residents. The police department was very surprised about the research findings, but the black community was not. My project is finding the root issue on why black men and women are targeted more when it comes to ‘traffic violations’ and how this could possibly lead into police brutality or killing towards the black community.
