Anti-Asian Racism

Since the beginning of the pandemic, hate crimes against the Asian American community increased by 1900%. This paper seeks to understand racial discrimination experienced by the Asian American community during the pandemic. This paper explores the history of anti-Asian racism in the United States and how that perception of Asian Americans normalized the racial violence against the group. Then, the paper analyzes how the recent rise in Asian hate crimes impacts their well-being (mental health). Finally, the paper explores how increasing the reporting rate may increase public awareness of the issue.
