"Role of SCN2A Polymorphism in Regulating Nav1.2 Voltage Gated Sodium Channels"
The project studies the SCN2A gene, an alpha subunit, that encodes the voltage gated sodium channel, Nav1.2, a major neuronal channel. Polymorphisms in the SCN2A gene that are predicted to alter this Nav channel are being investigated. Voltage gated sodium channels, specifically the Nav channel, are known to play a central role in disorders such as epilepsy.
