Mapping the Oratory of Fredrick Douglass

Alex Schwartz, Benjamin Hiatt, Ian Harmon, and Yuki Oshima

Our project is Mapping the Oratory of Frederick Douglass (the 19th century speaker and abolitionist). Through research, we are building up a body of work documenting Douglass's speeches during select years of the 1850s; ultimately this data will be transferred to a mapping program (ArcGIS) where researchers can examine Douglass's movements and speeches throughout his career.
