An estimated 68% of felons were arrested and put behind bars within 3 years of their release, 79% within 6 years, and a whopping 83% within 9 years (Alper et al., 2018, p,1). Due to inconsistent resources and lack of preparation for the economic, mental, and emotional drain reentry would have on ex-convicts they’re more likely to re-offend. New Beginnings, a program that would begin in prison and continue during their reentry would provide them with the knowledge and resources to be economically sound and healthy.
