Equity-Focused Public Transportation
Indianapolis has the worst public transportation system of any major city in the United States. The current organization of IndyGo’s bus routes has not adjusted to the reality of suburbanization and gentrification, leading to a spatial and skill mismatch between residents and labor markets. Through adopting an equity-focused community outreach program, IndyGo and the city can address these issues by involving residents in planning processes more effectively and meet their needs more efficiently.
