Community Engagement Associate Reflection

I was a CEA for the Fall '21 Term for a 16 week course, and the Spring '22 Term for an 8 week course. My experience as a Community Engagement Associate, or a teacher’s assistant, has helped my teaching skills and passion blossom. I took P105 in the fall of 2020 my first semester here at IUPUI, and it was one of the things that helped me decide to change my major to education because I learned how much of a philanthropic act teaching can be. I help the course instructor, Christina Eggenberger, grade papers and discussion posts, interact with the students, make review games and practice tests, organize test banks, and other things a teacher's assistant would do. I did the same things in the Spring Term, however after the 8 weeks were over I began making course templates to make copy/pasting courses easier and evergreen. I do most of the basic duties of a teacher, while also building relationships with the students. These duties have built on so much character by giving me teaching experience before starting my teacher education field courses, and helped prove I made the right choice in changing my major.
