Provenance Research Leads to Successful Repatriation

Provenance research is an essential component of the FBI Art Crime Team, which determines the origins of stolen cultural heritage items. The Community Engagement Associates have conducted successful research that has resulted in repatriations to descendant communities and to foreign partners. The methods include: in-situ photograph examinations, facilitation of student provenance research, consultations with field experts, and collaborations with Indigenous communities. This research poster highlights the methodologies conducted and the positive outcomes when completed correctly.
