In an interprofessional setting, representatives from IU graduate programs developed a comprehensive oral care program for the Afghan refugees in Indianapolis. Working with local partners, we continue to explore the oral health-seeking behaviors of our new community members while providing essential treatment to critical cases. IUSD personnel will work with families to fund their restorative/preventative dental needs from existing grants. The patient-oriented outcomes will help improve the provision of culturally contextualized healthcare.
