AmeriCorps as a Pathway to Developing Culturally Competent Healthcare Professionals
Americorps is a federal program and includes AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps NCCC, and AmeriCorps State & National. Our program, Hoosier Public Health Corps, otherwise known as AmeriCorps States is designed to connect students to their communities for direct service summer after MS1 year. The HPHC program prepares students to become physicians who are culturally competent, critical thinkers, trauma-informed, and understand healthcare disparities on a systems level.
